Regular exfoliation (physical and chemical) has many benefits. It removes the build-up of dry and dead skin, stimulates blood flow and lymphatic drainage, increases collagen production, and enhances glow. Physical scrubs remove dead skin cells through friction. They can be very effective – especially on the feet or body – but aren’t generally recommended for anyone prone to redness, sensitivity or broken capillaries. Chemical exfoliators, such as AHAs, (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) and PHAs (Polyhydroxy Acids) break down the bonds between the surface skin cells, so they are shed more easily.
